Rn: Radon
ENVIRONMENTAL USES AND IMPACT
-Radiation exposure or radiation sickness due to exposure through soil are unlikely, but radon decay products may enter the food chain if they become attached to plants or animals within the soil.
-Radon can sink into groundwater/enter water systems like lakes and rivers. Effects of radon and it's decay on the aquatic life are not known, as are the effects of ingesting fish contaminated with radon decay.
-Radon can enter the indoor air systems in homes through cracks in the foundation. Radon decay becomes suspended in the air and, when inhaled, can attach to lung tissue. When in long exposure, the particles can impact the health of your lungs also causing lung cancer or other lung diseases.
